2K14 Reflection

This year has been a very active year for all students at Glen Innes School. Many memories have been created over the year and will not be forgotten. As the year 8 students graduate this year a new generation will form and the year 2015 will begin.

Term 1 and 2 has been all about sport. We attend all Inter School games were we versed different schools. I personally think that our school is a threat because we have won many of the Inter School competitions this year.

Term 3 was the best term overall because we got to participate in this years 2014 Sports Camp. I am sure that the year 7’s are ready to get back out there next year and bring more trophies home. Our school competed for a wide range of trophies that tested our ability and discipline. At the end we managed to bring home 7 1st place trophies and 6 runners up.

Term 4 for me is a relax term. We mostly just do fun activities and finish of our last Inter School sports competition. Hopefully our school does well at the Inter School Athletics. As a year 8 student I will miss this school and I will always cherish the memories that I have created at this school.

Order of Operations Game

Screenshot 2014-10-23 at 9.23.34 AM.png

In this game I had to find the order of operations by using Bedmas. It was easy for me because I followed the Bedmas rule. Next I would like to work more on a challenging order of operations game.

Order of Operations

Screenshot 2014-10-24 at 9.49.02 AM.png

In this game I used the Bedmas rule to solve the operations. Bedmas stands for bracket, exponent, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. It was challenging at first but since I’ve learnt the Bedmas rule all week I found it easy afterwards. Next I would like to practice more challenging operations.

The Incredible Machine

The first man to create the Ferris Wheel was George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. He designed this machine for the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. It was the tallest attraction there, standing at 264 feet high. In fact, the original Ferris Wheel was designed as much to be seen as to be ridden. I found this information from a reading comprehension activity that I did.

Tongue Tasters

I like the taste of raspberry ice
Slurpy slushies too are nice.

Boiled eggs give a squishy munch
But I much prefer a crunchy lunch.

Crispy, crackly, crinkly chips
The kind that gives you salty lips.

Jammy doughnuts that go “squelch”
And fizzy fluids that make you belch.

I like sizzling sausage rolls
And creamy licks from mixing Bowls.

Juicy jubes are good to chew
While tangy sherbets tingle too.

Christmas mince pies- two or three

And chocolate fudge tastes heavenly.

WALT - Compare fractions

I thought this level of the game was easy because I just had to pile the poo up, so all the denominators are the same. But on level 3 it was really difficult trying to match the fractions in place to make a sentence. My high score was 8 Mystic Prunes, I want to get 20 Mystic Prunes next time. Next I would like to learn more about matching the fractions to make the sentence.

Jump In!

The Students at Glen Innes School were given an opportunity to perform to the community of Glen Innes at the G.I centre. The pubic crowded around our school as the classes skipped to an amazing variety of songs. All the performances were different,  and I’m pretty sure if you were there you would enjoy yourself, just like the audience did.

Courage and confidence was taken on the stage every time the classes perform. Different tricks and skipping styles were performed. I thought that room 9, 10, 11 and room 12’s skipping routines were the best. Room 12 need to practice getting set and ready faster.

The reason why we are skipping is to keep  active and fit and to keep our hearts pumping, and thats what we surely did. When we performed a red bucket was taken around so the crowd could donate money to give to the heart foundation.

In conclusion, I enjoyed skipping in front of a lot of people. My advice to you is  if you have a skipping rope and you have nothing to do. Get outside and skip, your doing yourself a favour.

The Danger in my Comprehension!

Lose a Life!

Prime numbers.png

This game is as easy as knowing your prime numbers. When you hover over a balloon you have to answer a yes or no question. If you answer the question correctly then the balloon will pop, and another balloon will pop up. If you get the answer wrong you lose a life. But make sure you're fast to answer because you have a time limit.

Chloe's Weekly Catch

Kaleb Collen and Ryder Lendon were found dead at 5:30 am in Diamond Forest. The two men died from an attack deep in the forest. Deep wounds were found on both mens’ backs, it looks like they were trying to run. The last footage of the creature was captured by the men  as they took their last breath.  We are still struggling to describe what this creature looks like; the only clue that we have is a bush was found, frozen and covered in neon turquoise slime.

O.C.H crew (short for Official Creature Hunters) will examine the forest. Highly technological systems were placed around the forest. They yet to receive data of the creature. This investigation has been more difficult than they ever expected. We talked to Mr. Diven Groth the head of O.C.H, who said “We have recorded froth noises coming from a tunnel near by our camp. This noise sounds like this; Grrrrrrrr H. Grrrrrrr H. Grrrrrrr H.”

Police blocked the street while O.C.H got ready to enter the tunnel. But when they entered the noises had stopped. The creature was identified as a dragon in a deep sleep. When they were ready to strike, the dragon was quickly tied down with electrical wires. Once they were set they switched the panel on so the wires could start pulsating. But the dragon was too powerful. His slippery, scaly, spiky body cut the wires in half allowing his body to be free. while his turquoise slime managed to neutralise the electrical impulse radiating from the panel. With his blazing body and his savage, needle teeth he chomped the remaining cords. So he bust through the cordent and flew west towards the snowy, rocky mountains.

Memorabilia

Making memorabilia was fun! Our learning was how to create a memorable poster or card and having to explain a myth. This is all part of a webquest made by our teacher. For me to create my memorabilia I had to increase my knowledge of a myth.

The power of Cronus and Zeus is preposterous. Most people fully believe these greek gods were powerful enough to rule the whole of Greece. Their background stories are still a mystery to this point. I place confidence in Cronus and Zeus both breaking a father and son bondship, because of the incident between Zeus's siblings being born. The thought of Cronus swallowing his children can be negated or assumed true.

Please comment and tell me what you think the background story of Cronus and Zeus is; and why they hate each other so much?

The Power of Cronus and Zeus

Kronos - Cronus
Roman name:
Saturn

Source of Power:
The titan god of time and age.

Kronos is the son of Gaia and Uranus, and the youngest titan. His father Uranus is a powerful God of the sky, Gaia his mother is the goddess of mother nature (Earth). He is married to a beautiful lady called Rhea, to whom made him into the father of Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus. Chiron was believed to be his son. Kronos and his wife is also Olympian gods.

Zeus
Roman name:
Jupiter

Source of Power:
The god of the sky, lightning, thunder, law and justice.

Zeus is the son of Cronus and Rhea. He had many affairs with many woman, but he decided to marry his own sister Hera. His siblings are Hestia, Demeter, Hades, Hera and Poseidon. His biggest enemy is Cronus his own father because he was told his father swallowed his siblings after they were born. But Rhea saved Zeus before Cronus ate him. So Zeus decided to send him to Tartarus the underground world, to his brother Hades.
